painting calipers and drums help!
Hi, I'm planing to paint ma calipers and drums soon. I know I have to get rid of the rust with wire brush and brake cleaner which sounds pretty simple but what kind of paint do I need to use? What's the best choice of the paint? I need some help please. Thank you!

or if your dont like those colors go high heat paint. but caliper paint repels brake dust. i did my rears with high heat and front with caliper and the front stay so clean the rears are dirty.
it was done at diff times but im def redoing the rears.

I used this in yellow two years back and still looks like the day I painted them will little fade,
I repainted it black two weeks ago with the same brand and it looks sweet

Went on clean and uniform unlike those brush kits from duplicolor, where you can see the brush strokes.
I just sanded it down, blew it off with a air gun (hammered the rear rotors) and masked everything off with bags and painted it.
Dried really quick and was done both sides in less than a hour

WTF, you go to the ****ing store and see some paint with CALIPER paint on it. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that. Besides, different autoparts stores carry different paints. WTF, doesn't anyone know how to ****ing problem solve anymore?

I'm redoing mine now.
I just hopped on the forum to hijack another thread and ask all the drum painters out there what they do to make the paint last longer and keep the rust off...
Cuz a lot of people just keep doing this crap every spring.
I originally powder-coated mine when they were still almost new, after sandblasting.
This year I'm using a stainless steel scrubbie for the old peeling layers and rust, then an SOS pad to clean off the rust residue. I'm not using any water cuz (as I've seen on old iron cooking pans) the rust just grows back right before your eyes. Then I'll wipe real good with a clean towel before spray painting.
After the paint dries I'm gonna experiment and use a regular wax crayon (yes my secret weapon) to coat it and see how long it lasts this time. Last year I sprayed rust check on it and the year before that I used canola oil, both of which washed out pretty much after the first rain.
I think some people say they used some kinda clear coat and it might last an extra year.
Sorry for the long post.
