Re: pulstar plugs
Seems pretty good to me. If what they are saying is true then it should help all around. Nice find! Tell us how they are. If there any good I'll have to buy some. Now when they say per plug do they literally mean that? Would I have to buy 4 then?

Re: pulstar plugs
no its different technology. capacitor based, which means instant huge spark, instead of small gradual spark. technically its not even a spark plug except that it serves the purpose of one.
Re: pulstar plugs
Well, are they much better then Iridum plugs and stuff?
I remember reading about these in a bunch of car magazines at work and say more horse power better gas milage...
Im really interested to see how these work.

Re: pulstar plugs
Sigh... 100 bucks. Looks like you are going to have to test this one out thoroughly before I think about getting any. Seems like an interesting concept though. Good find Gearbox. I'd like to see how it plays out.

Re: pulstar plugs
lol well hopefully it will do something noticable. it basically sounds like an "intake type" mod for the money and gain. few hp, better mileage, etc. im hoping the engine will turn over faster maybe. or something else noticable.

Re: pulstar plugs
they are in, i went to try and wash my car, ended up paying one only to find out its broken, the second one the squirt gun was cracked so i was soaked in soap and water when i got done. bad day lol.
anyway, yeah so far there is no difference that i can feel. car starts same, drives the same, etc. maybe feels a bit smoother, but if someone switched them in without me knowing, i doubt i wouldve noticed anything. its one of those mod where it works, just not enough to feel. like ground wires or something. eh, worth a shot. im sure it makes the car run better overall. i havent gone above 4k rpm so it could be smoother when you are under heavy load. will try that later today. pics:

Re: pulstar plugs
I think the money will be better spent on tools to port and polish the ex head :-). Which reminds me if anybody has an old intake mani gasket they could send me I need one!

Re: pulstar plugs
no it says not to use these with non-na engine. prolly makes more of a difference with more powerful cars. i saw a carolla on there and it was only maybe 2% better. and i guess thats like a civic pretty much.

Re: pulstar plugs
omg this is terrible. i took it out tonight and did a few high rpm runs, they completely failed. when i got around 5k rpms a few times, i suddenly heard a very loud roar coming from the engine (10x the sound volume that the intake makes) that lasted at least 5 seconds of so, it happened quite a few times as well. sounded like a semi was passing me. so idk what that was about, hopefully no engine damage. wtf could have happened? and when i took it to 6k flooring a couple times, the engine felt like it was gonna die. you could feel hesitation, almost slipping, and i had to let off the gas. wow i really hope i can get a refund cause these are total trash. the denso iridium are going back in asap when it stops raining. man what a disappointment.

Re: pulstar plugs
haha funny. anyone know what the noise couldve been? i thought the engine was gonna blow up. okay im not totally screwed, their site says guarantee: if not satisfied, return for full refund in 30 days (-shipping). i sent an email. its funny, cause i think the car ran better after i swapped the denso back in. and while i was out test driving, i witnessed a big accident and had to sit there for a while to give statement and all that. basically a maxima came to a 2 way stop, he stopped, but didnt realize he has to wait for crosstraffic to clear. he goes out, a cougar hits him doing 45+ and plows him into a 15ft ditch. im really surprised nobody died. i was at the stop sign when it all happened. the guy in the maxima cant even remember and his leg was hurting. other guy seemed fine

Re: pulstar plugs
haha dangggg. thats quite amazing. maybe the new plugs detonated faster than regular spark plugs, since im getting the impression it doesnt use a spark, but an electric charge. if the detonate faster, it will mess up the entire suck, squish, bang, blow, exhaust cycle, and the faster the rpms, the more youll mess it up. so if the computer sensed this, it may have tried to make very unsuccessful adjustments.

Re: pulstar plugs
yeah thats what i thought before buying it. if the spark is a million times bigger and it forms instantly (assuming the capacitor can charge and fire reliably every time), it would prolly make things run weird. well i sent them back, hopefully i get a refund like they said on the phone. it almost felt like the timing belt slipped so proly the ecu was at work trying to figure out the ignition timing, and failing.

Re: pulstar plugs
you know how many people buy and swear by the tornado, turbonator, and the ebay super power chip? lol. thousands and thousands.... lets not forget the amazing fuel saver magnet that is so good, it actually changes the molecular structure of gas to allow for a better burn.
Re: pulstar plugs
ahah! i feel like a genius now
people buy these and there like OMGWTFBBQ!!!! IT MAKES 30303 HORSEPOWER MORE AND MY GAS MILEGAGE IS LIKE A HYBRIDHYDROGENNFUELCELL CAR!
lol alllll psychological.

Re: pulstar plugs
Thats disappointing. I was kind of excited about this... But whatever, thanks for testing them out for us, lol. Hope you get your money back!
Also, that accident from how you described it seemed like a good one. Lucky nobody got seriously injured.

Re: pulstar plugs
I am a SMOG check technician with my own dynamometer and Smog check engine emissions sampling computer. I received the pulse spark plugs not gapped properly. Two of them had a very wide gap and two had a very short gap. Be aware of u knowing basic mechanical knowledge. I ran a smog test with Brand new NGK Iridium spark plugs on a 2000 Toyota Corolla 1.8 I believe Iridium spark plugs last very long maybe 70000 miles. The test results with Iridium spark plugs came out good and a passing smog test. I replaced the new Iridium plugs with the newly arrived pulse spark plugs and corrected gap. I reset the car’s computer with a scanner and drove a couple of miles to allow the computer monitors to complete. The computer monitors completed and ran smog test. The smog test showed lower emission levels. Specially carbon monoxide. Example: Iridium spark at 15 mph .30 CO, pulse spark at 15 mph .02 CO.
I plugged in all the emission numbers into an equation that tells if your engine is or is not burning fuel at stoichiometric (1 X 14.71) Results were that my car with brand new iridium plugs did well at stoich, but with pulse plugs the result were almost perfect. .999 X 14.69.
The engine runs same at idle, but it runs smooth at low and high moving speeds. The pick up speed seems to be better. I do not notice any gas improvement.
I noticed one flaw. My car’s engine makes rattling noises with 87 gas, but noises went away with higher octane gas. My car did not care the type of gasoline I filled it up with when I had stock spark plugs.
Maybe if your car has mechanical problems and your car runs rich, this pulse spark plug would be a good band aid to correct and try to burn all the excess fuel.
Stills testing so far it seems to be a good product.
