Exclamation Sanding Headlights - Look Brand New???

Hello,

A friend noticed my front headlights are marked up and such from rocks, etc.. and said that his friend removed them and they looked brand new by wet sanding them with a very fine sandpaper (3000-4000).

Does anyone know anything about do this or has done it and can offer any advice and/or tips? Thanks in advance.

My passenger headlight is starting is starting to haze. I believe this is on the inside of the headlight. I've been thinking about changing the headlights to some projectors. However, could I possibly take the headlight apart and buff the lense to like new? I'll take pics if needed.

most of the haze you see is on the out side, lots of ppl just think its on the inside because they cant get it off thats where sand paper comes in at, but it does happen on the inside every now and then but most of the time if the inside is bad its not fixable

Thanks King Pin! Just a few questions though.

1. Should I start with a rougher sandpaper and progressively work my way up to a much finer one?
2. What do I use to buff the surface with?
3. Can I use a hand-held sander/buffer or should I do it by hand?
4. Use small circular motion when sanding or doesn't matter?
5. Do I have to remove the headlights from my car or can I leave them it?

Thanks for your help.

start with about 1600 and work your way up to about 2500,.yes use a ele buffer with some kind of plastic polish..( autozone ) but be careful not to burn it with that buffer, and its best to keep the headlights in the car, just use normal circles while wet sanding but make sure you dont sand in one spo to long.

Thanks again King Pin. If anyone else feels like putting their two cents in, feel free. The more input, the better the result! lol A video tutorial would be great ... lol, but that's asking for a lot. =P
