auto to manuel

alright, i'm looking at changing my car from auto to manuel. I own a 2000 civic ex coupe. how much would i be lookin at? ($1000?) and would i need a suspension upgrade, if so would coilovers be the thing. if i do have this change will i be able to sell my auto transmission for $. Having trouble finding these answers, Thanks

suspension you can reuse, youll probbably need at least 1 new axle...whats your location.

Sure you can sell your auto trans

NE Ohio, i was not sure if the stock struts will be able to handle it. why just 1 new axle? i beleive i could find someone for the job.

What would they need to handle...the extra few WHP you would be putting out with a 5-speed trans?? Plus its an indirect relationship anyway. Sometimes you can get away with replacing one axle, sometimes you need 2. Axles for a manual and auto transmission are different in most/all cases. With the costs of the swap, ~$100 for new axles wont be a worry.

oh!! so all that will need to be done would just swap the transmission and change the front axel, then the other little things? then how much for the new transmision? i think i am having difficulty understanding.

i just figured it is something your car is not used to. not as much smooth shifting.

What did you think was involved? Just change the shifter?? lol

What I think youll need, based on other swaps ive seen done

Transmission
clutch
pressure plate
pilot bearing
throwout bearing
pedals
shifter linkages
shifter assembly
clutch slave cylinder
clutch master clylinder
fluid reservour
axle/s (most likely 2)
mounts (probbably 1 maybe 2) sometimes they are different on MT cars
sensors

This is why I tell people to buy a stick car right away, its a lot less hassle...unless you get an auto for next to nothing

bought the car when i was about 15 at the time thought stick was just too hard
