Re: exhaust system on an ex?
What are you goals, aka - what do you hope to gain? Sound (high/low, loud/quiet), power (high/ low end), looks?

Re: exhaust system on an ex?
I personally... and I can only speak for myself here, would not waste money on a cat back system. I have done countless cat, full and universal muffler installs, and with a civic no gains are present(unless you heavily mod). Well at least seat of the pants, you might pick up 1-5 hp, but ask yourself this. Is 5 hp worth 600 bucks. If your in it for the looks and sound do a universal muffler or take it to any muffler shop they can tube bend a cat back exhaust system(usually 2.25) for a fraction of the cost of the one mentioned. This all depends on what you want and like all of us it is the power gain, but i would'nt look at exhaust for gains; maybe some laughing gas or some forced induction is in need... Anyways good luck with whatever you choose to do.

This thread is full of every kind of exhaust out there for the 7th gen. To adapt the list for the 6th gen- give or take a point.

Re: exhaust system on an ex?
well i want it to look good and sound good.
have a nice sound.
like a loud and powerful one.
cause the way it sounds now isn't that great.
besides a cold air intake and headers
would anything besides an exhaust system make it sound better?
cause theres this guy with a cougar at my school and his sounds insane but he doesn't have an exhaust system.
its just stock.
but i don't know what he's done to make it sound like that?
any ideas?

Well, if he made it sound differnt, then its not stock. Stock is what the dealer sold it as when it was brand new. The engine was probably modified, turbo maybe, who knows theres lots of options. Why dont you ask him?

Re: exhaust system on an ex?
yea i know what stock is
but i don't think he has a turbo
it doesnt sound like it.
have you ever heard of that valve cap trick?
like you take a certain cap off and it sounds like you have an exhaust system?
do you think that could be it?

Re: exhaust system on an ex?
I dont think there is a valve cap trick... If your talking about the oil fill cap on the valve cover you need that there. If you want loud you need a header and a complete exhaust with the catalytic converter removed... It will be loud then and illegal.
