dead after 20 minutes
i have a 90 crx si..with 200,000+ miles on it.. it will start up just fine drive fine for about 20 minues then the check engine light will come on then a few minutes later it will just die..the dash lights will come on as if it were in the run posisition.. but then if i let it sit for a few hours it will start right back up... i have done a tune up on it changed the ignition coil and modual.. and it still does it.. and i have no clue what to do about it.. can anyone help me??
Re: dead after 20 minutes
does it only do it when it's hot outside or u leave it in the sun so the indide gets hot?
could be your main relay. it's above the hood releace. there some cold solder joints in it. resolder those and u should be good to go

Re: dead after 20 minutes
should be obvious what to do. go get a code reader and see whats wrong. there is no way to guess from thousands of reasons why it dies.
Re: dead after 20 minutes
Had same car, same problem, ended up being the main relay. Let me just say this though. Have a friend do it if you're easily angered. This tried every last bit of patience for me.
Also had a teg that did the same thing and took the alt to get tested, but it'll test good by the time you get it out and down there. Turns out the brushes go bad and need to be replaced ($20 job if you have it re-brushed as I did).
I miss my ol' Rex... word is she now has a K20 swap

Re: dead after 20 minutes
u said the main relay was irritating to replace if im not mistaken on what the main relay is i just pulled mine out of my car in about 10 minutes.. now i have to take it to the auto shop and get it matched for the right one tomorrow someone else told me to replace the whole distributor.. could be allot of things in there heating up and causing my problem..
