Water In The Trunk...help...

OKAY...i feel dumb as hell but i cant figure it out so i need help! GET ON ME IF U WANT BUT...oh well! I live in tampa and its rainy season and i love it and i hate it! REASON I HATE IT IS cause it rains SOOO HARD that water somehow ends up in my truck where the spair tire is kept. I have a 2000 Civic LX and i was thinkin it may have something to do with my coilover when installed but no leakage! I cant figure out where the water is comin from. HELP ME OUT...does anyone have this problem if u live in florida or when it rains or does anyone have a clue what it might be!

P.S. I hope u had a good laff cause my crew checks on me whenever it rains jus to get a good laff! THANKS

Re: Water In The Trunk...help...

I had this problem with my first car, but water was getting into the back seat somehow. I just took a caulking gun and caulked everything I could find under the seats, and it went away, so I'm guessing I took care of it. You could try that, or do what he mentioned above. Another Idea is you can take a hose and spray your car down from the outside, to try and find the problem, then caulk it.

Re: Water In The Trunk...help...

IIRC, some of the early 7th gen cars had issues with missing sealant behind the gas door, resulting in water in the trunk. Dunno if this could be the case for your car but it might be worth investigating.

Re: Water In The Trunk...help...

i live in vancouver and it's rainning all the time, except summer... hahaa it's not rainning now. but anyways i had the same problem that you have. and i fixed it.

i found out that the water is coming from the gas cap release wire.
coming from where ever the gas cap is... check were the wire is. it might get in yr truck from the hole where the gas cap is when it's rainning hard.
just run yr hands on the wire from yr left trunk area to the gas cap area after yr car got sh*t on (rain)...

hope that helps and hope u fix yr problem soon

Re: Water In The Trunk...help...

It could be from the tail lightt. I drilled a little hole in the tail light, then the water went away.

Re: Water In The Trunk...help...

depends is water getting in your trunk while the car sits or does it when u drive, take aluminum sealant and seal the rear quarter panel where it meets the wheel well. Thats if your car leaks water if the car is moving, also seal where the rear windshield meets the roof, thats also a leak spot.
