I just put a AEM cam gear on my 2001 civic EX 5speed and im not sure how far to advance or retard it. I know the right way is to have a prefessional adjust it using a computer to tell how far to go... but I dont have the money so I was hoping mabey someone here could give me alittle advise to get me going in the right direction.
thanks.

It's only safe to advance/retard 1-2 degrees. Historically on older civics 4 would be max but our ecu's won't like that too much. Advance is normally for n/a applications and retard for forced induction fyi.

when i had my engine built the dyno people set it to -1.5 degree retard. and it gave a few whp. if you just have basic bolton, keep it at zero. those are a waste of $
