preparing for a long drive.
I wasn't sure which forum to put this in, so if it needs to be moved I apologize.
Anyway, I'm driving from Columbus, Ohio to Long Island, NY today after my 2:30 class.
My civic has never been on this long of a drive and I was just wondering if you could offer some advice for basic things to check out on it. I'm putting my stock steelies and tires back on to make the ride a little bit smoother, plus I don't see any reason to put a bunch of miles on my good tires, and I don't know if there's going to be snow that way or not. I just got an alignment last week and the suspension is all in tip-top shape, and I'm gonna clean the filter today just so I know I'm getting good gas mileage. Oil and filter was recently changed too. It only has 47k so I don't think I should have any problems, but if you could offer anything it'd be appreciated.

now we're enjoying some select alcoholic beverages and walking to the falls.

The only thing I can recommend for the drive is when you get to the island, stop by your nearest pizza parlor and get a slice of pizza... there should be about 75 pizza parlors within a one mile radius.
Or go to Massapequa and stop by All American... a place everyone should eat at in their lifetime.
I envy the people that live on L.I. The navy took me away from there and I regret it everyday. Virginia blows. You can't even buy pizza by the slice, you can get a ticket for cursing at the beach, everyone drives like a fvcking retard, nobody uses their blinkers, they all wait about 3 seconds before going when a light turns green, and they all wait until the last second to make the decision to turn into your lane when you're going 60mph with either nobody in the other lane or cars in the other lane therefore forcing you to jam your brakes and stick your finger out the window. These people would not survive up there. And all of this is the least of how much this place sucks... be happy you don't have to withstand this retardation. I'm done venting.
