Well, since we used to own a black Civic, I think you are making a great choice by sticking with that color! I really like black, red, and silver for cars. I used to have a dark green car, and it was very pretty, but so common that it was difficult to locate it in a crowded parking lot.
Both black and red cars are very hard to maintain in my opinion. The nuetral colors like silver and or gray are always the best way to go. Just my 2 though.
Black and red also are eye catches, not good for unwanted attention as well.
Either way, when you get it, enjoy it

I didn't notice my white car looking clean all the time even when it wasn't. My black car, on the other hand, hasn't been washed in months, if you don't count the rain storms. I can't tell it's as filthy as it is until I'm right next to it.
black cars are hard to keep clean but from a distance they have to be pretty damn dirty to notice... i love my car when i jsut get done washing it but water always gets trapped under my jdm carbonfiber spoiler so as soon as i drive, i get water spots on the trunk

Plus I dont know what brands they are using there.

My husband used to wash his car himself. He washed the truck himself too before it was mine. LOL! That's why I gave him that Mr Clean autowash thing. But he just doesn't have time anymore. And I'm not about to wash the truck. I would if I were still a kid, but I'm in my 30s. I love to just hand over the keys, pay, read my book, and then drive away with a clean car.
Just to add my 2 about car washes.
In terms of quality, nothing beats washing your own car. Many times car washes miss the front and back of the car, their wheel cleaning sucks, etc.
I use a Texas Car wash near me and wash it myself for the same they charge to run the car through their tunnel.
I just bring my own bucket, spong and soap.

I like to take my car to these guys doen the street who detail it for about $20.-25 dollars depending on who's working that day. They do a great job. Do those Mr. Clean autowash things work? They seem like they would do a good job.
As for what color you should get, I would say that you should walk around a lot full of Civics and see which color jumps out at you. You may like a color like blue or red or whatever, but you may not like the way it looks on a Civic. If you look at several together, you can see which one looks best to you.
