Rep Power: 0 "Extra" Maintenance Not Found In The Manual [99 Civic LX]
I have the service manual for my 99 Civic LX.
I'm looking at the maintenance schedule and I notice some items missing.
For example, the spark plugs are scheduled to be changed out every 24 months or 30k miles.
But there's not mention of distributor cap, rotor, spark plug wires, and fuel filter that was found in the FAQ on doing a tune-up on this web-site.
Which leads me to ask, what other items are missing from the maintenance schedule that I should add on?

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one
Re: "Extra" Maintenance Not Found In The Manual [99 Civic LX]
Cap/rotor/wires were "as needed" items, not on a regular schedule of any sort unless you want them to be.
Factory plug wires were pretty damn reliable IMO, many could last a lifetime without failure.
Typical original dist cap might last 100-150k before it gave problems (unless moisture got in it)
Many of the cars had the ignition coil fail before cap/rotor etc. caused problems, but that was an ideal time to replace everything that looked in poor condition
It's tough to find aftermarket stuff that's on par with OE for quality and longevity.
Fuel filter, the FSM says to replace it when the fuel pressure is too low........Also not mentioned on a schedule in the OM.
Apparently it's a lifetime filter (like most fuel filters these days), replace it whenever the life of the filter is over LOL
What else?
Did you search for 'forgotten tune up mods'?

"Honda - tried, true & tested...!"
Re: "Extra" Maintenance Not Found In The Manual [99 Civic LX]
Yes on a 99 Civic cap/rotor/wires have a Long life span on them.
even spark plugs on that engine should last a good long time, reason
I say that is? its not a turbo equipped engine where they burn out from
cylinder pressure and heat like on a turbo engine S/plugs are done after
2 years. the other thing I notice that Honda never ever talks about in there
owners manuals is power steering fluid changes they will mention to ONLY
USE HONDA P/steering fluid but Never ever mention changing it out.
I Wonder why? its a fluid like any other on the car
