Which model/year hatch would be best as far as a dependable engine and best mpg? Seems to be the '94-95 civic vx, but from what I read the engine is crap. I'm not looking to mod it out or make it fast, just dependable and great mpg.
any EK is pretty awesome....
I owned two of them- a 1993 and 1995 VX hatchback, and got great gas MPG
with both of them.
In fact, my 1993 VX got an astounding 72 MPG hwy, and I really loved the car. Sadly, so did the thieves that took it, and they absolutely destroyed my car.
I only wish that I had bothered to put a car alarm in it when I should have.
Silly me. Dumbest thing I have ever done.
Btw, I should also mention that I had Amsoil synthetic in the engine and the manual transmission, along with their oil and air filter as well.
I went from Portland to LA and back on less than 3 tanks of gas.
Too bad Honda stopped making the Vtec-E engine.
That was dumb of them...
