I just bought my daughter a 1997 Civic 4-door. Her gas guage never stays still, moves all the time. Talked to a couple of shops and they say the fuel pump needs to be replaced. Is that correct? If the fuel pump does need to be replaced, is it a easy fix?
Thanks

Re: New Member with Question
if the car drives fine, chances are there is no problem with the pump. usually gas gauge issues are a result of the fuel sending unit going bad, or the gauge cluster itself.

Both shops gave u the same answer uh? They must have the same BP playbook!
If ur lucky, it's just a loose plug, either at the cluster's end or the tank's end. The sending unit can be a bit troublesome to replace depending how ez to get to. None of which is fatal if daughter remembers to fill up regularly.
