Check Engine light is on.... TPSensor changed 02 civic...help needed
hey guys,
it's been awhile. i got a big issue and i'm nowhere to solving it. few weeks back while driving the check engine light came on, while pressing on the gas the vehicle would not accelerate pass 20km and did not change out of first gear (fail safe mode) by the way it's an automatic transmission. i took it to my local honda dealer in jamaica and the tech guy said the tpsensor is bad. i change the tpsensor with a generic brand as honda does not sell the tpsensor by itself as you would have to purchase the entire throttle body ( which i can't afford). took the part back to my local honda dealer and they adjusted the voltage and everything. took a drive to the country travel about 400km to and from, upon reaching home the light came on again (whenever the light comes on the car cannot accelerate nor does it change gears). i took it back to the dealer and they said that the tpsensor was out of range which they fix. this morning which is one week since adjusting the range on the sensor the light came on i switched the engine off and waited about 1hr then starting the car again the light hasn't come back on since. i'm puzzled right now as to what could be causing this problem as i'm not sure if the tpsensor is the problem. could it be something else on the throttle body or the transmission. i notice a change in the engine since our government forced us to use E10 gasoline about eight months now, noting that honda said that only 04 and younger civics' are made to use that gas type.

easiest way wouldve been find a used throttle body and swap it in. they are $50 on ebay. make sure you get the one for auto trans. the tps sensor is hard to adjust, especially an aftermarket one.
