scratch-X and orbital?

I have a porter cable 7424 random orbital and foam pads - can I use with scratch-X to get out a few razor blade marks I got when taking off a pinstripe?

Tips appreciated...

Re: scratch-X and orbital?

you could, but i would do it by hand. while scratch-x does have diminishing abrasives, it still slowly polishes away the clear coat and too much will burn it right off.

it depends on how deep the scratches are you mite need a heavier grit compound.

I find scratch x to be very mild. I would get some rubbing compound, work it in by hand or machine(whichever it states AT THE CORRECT SPEED), follow it up with a finer polish to remove the scratches it puts in, then wax it!!!!

Re: scratch-X and orbital?

rubbing compound is very harsh, like using a sandpaper. i used a few applications of this but only because i had to strip the entire UV coating off a pair of headlight lenses (coating was peeling and hazy). they looked trashed after i was done and i still have some scratches that almost a whole bottle of plast-x would not remove. but they still look better than before. just be careful with rubbing compound if theres no other choice.
