Honda Civic 1995 1.3 starting problems.

Hello,

I am from the UK and i am having a starting problem with my Civic.

The other day i was driving home and it felt like the engine lost power from the gearbox. Eventhough it was in gear it felt like it had been put into neutral. I came to a stop and the engine cut out.

When i tried to start it again it cranked over and started but cut out after about 2 seconds.

I called the breakdown people and the guy came had a look, he said that it may be the fuel pump and he told me how to check if this was the problem.

I did what he said and the fuel pump is working fine.

The only way i can get the engine to start is by cranking it over and pump the gas pedal. as soon as i stop this the engine dies again.

I dont know what the problem is. I was told it may be electrical but all the lights on the dashboard work and everything else, so i dont think its that, unless the engine electrical system is different from the others.

Please help.

thanks

I would check the fuel pressure as well as the sparkplugs.
