my VIC failed the smog check and the guy didnt wanna tell me wut was wrong with it cuz he wanted to charge me another sixty bucks to just find the problem

so i said no and left

now im stuck wondering wuts wrong with it

any ideas or something i should check into??

my check engine light is on im takin the vic to the shop 2morrow but anything i should be looking for??

are you running any aftermarket intake/headers/exhaust?

check out what code the cel is throwing. most likely the o2 sensor needs to be replaced.

Just pull codes.. I think you didnt fail actual emissions, some states you cant pass if you have a check engine code at all, thats probably why you failed it.

im a PA Inspector iand in pennsylvania u cant pass emission with the cel on the u have to fox the promblem then run ur car till its back in ready mode. u have to pull them codes see where ur at.

yes i got dc 4-2 -1 headers

dnx exhaust and aem short ram

so pull the codes and see wuts up??

yea but if u find the promblem then fix the promblem u will have to drive ur car bout 20 to 30 miles to put the ecu in ready mode then go to the inspection station

well he failed you because the engine light was on. find out why its on and correct the problem so it goes back off. most testing computers will auto fail you if the light is on for any reason.

o wow alright i didnt make it to the shop today but called em up and let em know i was gunna go 2morrow to check out the problem

like others have said. In state of californai check engine light is automatic fail...even if you pass the sniffer test.

Right there is your problem, the race header eliminates the cat and your CEL is on because you dont have accurate readings from your secondary O2 sensor and you probably toasted it by not moving it out of the exhaust stream. Buy a spark plug non fouler or angled O2 defouler to move it out. 20 something bucks shipped on ebay. Reset the ECU and take it to emissions and you'll pass. Job DONE.

I love TN...no testing. BTW Autozone or advanced will pull the codes for free, not sure if your paying the shop just to check that or not.

so i found this problem when i hit the shop

who ever wired up my sensors effed it all up

the wiring is wrong not sure exactly why i will post some pics up of what the guy in the shop was tellin me bout it he said the wiring for the front sensor is wired to the secondary

last emmissions i had here in MD, they simply looked under my car and told me to go around the building because my car is too low to drive up onto the roller. I was then given a free pass paper that said i didn't have to come back until 2010! woohoo. my car's not lowered either I simply have a body kit. Sooo I personally recommend lowering the body of your car! ( and show up right before they close)
