Supposedly the '04 Civic has a cabin air filter. Does anyone know where it is and how to change it? The Owner's Manual doesn't give any information.
On my '02 it's behind the glove box. I found it in the owners manual after reading almost the whole book. There are two clips on the sides of the glove box that if you pull those out you can flip down the glove box and get to them.

Yep, I found it...

And I also found reference to the air filter in the Owner's Manual. But it gives no instructions like the '02 manual. It says to have it serviced by the dealer.

everything says to have it serviced by the dealer. thats how they make business. but honestly unless you are retarded, open the hood and within 5 seconds you will see how to replace the air filter. you need a screwdriver or 8 or 10mm socket

Well, since I'm talking about the CABIN air filter then opening the hood would be the retarded thing to do.

Honda tried to tell me it would cost 90 bucks (because I live close to stupid-rich Palm Springs) to get the cabin filter replaced, so I bought two for like 20 bucks and saved a grip of cash!! It's seriously the easiest thing to do ever! Pop open the glove box all the way, pull out the "door" to the filter, pull it out put in the new one (make sure the air flow is flowing the right way) and then close it up! Seriously, get a Chilton's manual. How do you people not have these things?

He's right, Chilton's has nothing on Gearbox. Hand drawn diagrams, vs. actual pics of a real car?? C'mon. He asked a question, we should answer. Axe, lemme know if you have any issues with the filters, I'll snap a pic of my 04 the next time in there for wiring.

Yeah, too bad you can't get one with some sort of charcoal or something that would absorb some offensive smells we drive through. Then again, something like that would likely have to be changed more often.

Well gee....if we all had a Chilton's manual or a shop manual there wouldn't be any need for these forums to ask questions, would there? And not everyone has the tech knowledge or skill to use one. I DO have the knowledge and skill to use one and in fact I have the '04 Electrical manual. The Shop Manual is next on the purchase list. But since I wanted to change the cabin air filters I felt I could ask in this forum. And seriously, Chilton's manuals leave alot to be desired. In my experience they contain inaccuracies and not enough info. Which is why I don't have one.
