can anybody tell me what would the after effect of what i did...
i recently had my oil changed about a week ago, i always bring my own oil. but this last oil change i accidentally brought a 10w30 instead of a 5w20.

loooooooool.....im at 56000 miles already and since i got my car in 02 ive prolly used the right oil one time.....dude you have to understand.....its a honda engine, best engine ever made. car might be crappy, slow, ugly, shitty, but the engine isnt. its not like your using some v6 oil or w/e....that 10w30 is fine and wont do anything to your engine

well, actually, all engines (including hondas) are designed to work with a specific weight. hence the reason cars have different suggested weights.
10w30 will make the oil pump work harder than it was designed to do, so long term, you could have premature oil pump failure. as for other side effects, again, remember the car was made to run on 5w20

I use 5W-30 synthetic as well. I live in a hick town where it's uncalled for to use an oil less than 10-W30. It's hard enough finding 5W-30 let alone 5W-20. So I just stick with the 5-W30 Mobil 1 and change it every 10K. I hear you can run a bit thicker with synthetic, but I have no clue whether or not that is true..

Why not order online? Just get a case of 5w20 from some site.... I would only use 5w20... its what the engine was made for.
I Hate ppl who say that you can use anything. Well you kind of can but there is a reason that it says 5w20 in the manual and its because ppl with way more schooling and experiance than you determined that's what would work the best.
