"Higher Milage" 5w30 or 5w20?

Re: "Higher Milage" 5w30 or 5w20?
I would stick to 5w20 if that’s what the factory calls for just because it’s not good to mix 2 different types of oils together and the high mileage oil is a scam. It’s just another way for people to make money off of the same oil. The Honda dealer recommends going to fully synthetic after reaching 75K miles but who cares. Just stick to the oil that’s in it. The dealer recommends what ever oil the engine is designed to have. I run full synthetic mobil 1 in mine. Originally wasn't going full synthetic since it's take a synthetic blend but jiffy lube screwed that up. if you go full synthetic shouldn't go back down to conventional, just stay running full synthetic.

MOst 5-20 oils i came across are already synthetic blends, all major car companies are using it now, ford, hyundai, mopar, gm, honda... are going with 5-20, i've seen many 100k+ fords using 5w-20 with no problems and no leaks, i'd say stick with 5w-20 its what the engineers came up with when they built the motor so leave it to them and keep with 5w-20. To make it clear most top brand oil names that make 5-20 weight are synthetic blend, so i wouldn't switch over to a non synthetic 5w-30.

5-20, your motor needs it. Any 4 cyl. import motor needs it. It all has to do with when the motor gets up to temp. or starts cold. The lower the first number the easier the oil starts to flow in the cold, the second number is basically how much slower it moves at high temp (the higher the slower it moves). These motors were made for the 5-20. I'm not saying it won't work but a good bit of 'juice' will be sucked out if you run heaiver oil (turbo set-ups excluded).

The 5w20 and 5w30 has been beat to death. If you run 5w30 in your car because you think 5w20 is too thin. Keep this in mind that most 5w30 will shear down to a 20w anyways after awhile. Run whatever is on sale. The only reason why Honda use 5w20 is to get that .01 mpg increase (CAFE). Other part of the world will specify a much thicker oil in the same engine.

pretty sure hes talking about oil lol. and yeah it will break down to a thinner weight over time. remember when you do oil change, it always comes out thinner than what you pour in

Yeah that's what i mean. Most 5w30 will shear down to a 20w over time.
I've used everything from 5w20 or 5w30 10w30, conventional, semi syn, and full syn. I can't tell the difference from one oil to another while it's in my car. Find the cheapest 5w20/30 and use it.
