try changing the fluid a couple times with honda power steering fluid. just drain the reservoir, fill it up, drive around, then top it off to max again after letting the car sit overnight. repeat again if still dirty.

Re: DIY: Removing Power Steering
i have a question. is it bad having the lines capped at the rack? i can't get the stinking lines out while i'm removing my old rack and pinion to replace with a new one, so i was thinking of cutting the lines to get it out. and filling the gear box with fluid and capping them.

Re: DIY: Removing Power Steering
Have a 2002 Honda Civic LX. My power steering pump starting whining. Going to try and replace myself. Just four bolts right? Anything special i should be aware of or something that might go wrong? Any videos or video of removal / installation?

always used honda ps fluid? if not, try switching and see if it improves. flush it out a few times by drain/fill the reservoir, drive around, and repeat a few times.
