you remembered to oil the filter with the foam oil cleaner kit right? cause they need to be oiled or they wont filter anything.

Re: DIY Weapon-R Secret Fixing loose temp sensor...

i just bought a second new filter for mine but only cause i dont have the time to clean the old one and let it dry before oiling. you must buy the WR foam filter cleaner and oil, because the new filters do not use oil. and both sides need oil. i would say every year you should clean/change the filter cause it gets really dirty due to the high filtration efficiency.

Re: DIY Weapon-R Secret Fixing loose temp sensor...

^^^ Agreed. Luckly, when i bought mine, it came with 2 filters AND the oil for it, so i can oil one up and get it ready to put on and then take the one I have on it Off and replace it right away. Works out great. I was lucky with the guys I got it from. They're actually on Ebay and do a great job. But yeah, 2 filters is the way to go so you don't have to wait when replacing it.

Great DIY, just did this and it worked fantastic. Did you have to extend your sensor wires?

possibly, depends which model you got. most likely you wont have to mod anything. but you will know if the sensor doesnt reach the hole or is too loose.

Re: DIY Weapon-R Secret Fixing loose temp sensor...

pretty much, except you may need to make a custom mount to the cruise control box to hold up the pipe cause the one it comes with is too soft and will bend over time. youll see when you start doing it i guess. its a mixed bag but eventually you will get it put on and love it. it wouldve been so much better had they made the dual pipe design and engineered the mounting better.

Re: DIY Weapon-R Secret Fixing loose temp sensor...

yeah they decided on our cars, dual pipe doesnt make any difference so they just made single pipe. lemme know maybe the newer style is dual. i think i have the very first design. the filter is basically the best part of the intake. i thought about getting a nicer fitting intake again like typhoon or aem v2 and using the WR filter, but they only come in two size 3" and 4" so if it wont fit then im screwed.

Re: DIY Weapon-R Secret Fixing loose temp sensor...

some hardware store. its just a piece of metal with holes in it. i used wire tie to secure the side you cant see to the hose clamp around the filter, the other side has a screw holding to the cruise box.

Re: DIY Weapon-R Secret Fixing loose temp sensor...

post pics? i wanna see the dual design. mine came with one very soft chrome bracket that sagged after a few days and no ram air. your cleaning kit should have two solutions, one cleaner and one oil. i had to buy mine separately, its made by UNI for foam filters. mine are actually both aerosol sprays. but the cleaner is what you spray on when you clean it, then rinse with water and dry. final step is oiling, but they do not come preoiled so you must spray on oil (both sides) before using it. you have to use the special foam oil thats sticky.

Re: DIY Weapon-R Secret Fixing loose temp sensor...

okay, when you say "spray oil on both sides" do you mean inside and outside? i will post pics in a couple of hours when i get back from class
i found the UNI oil off ebay for 6 dollars (+5$ shipping) and just bought it...
do i have to oil it before any use? or can i use it for a week and when the oil comes in, take it off, clean it, and oil it?

EDIT: heres pics

Re: DIY Weapon-R Secret Fixing loose temp sensor...

wow nice so they added the dual chamber later. what does the whole intake look like assembled? and yeah you need to oil the filter before using it otherwise it wont fliter as well. you also need to open the filter by removing the four screws and spray oil inside too. let the oil soak in for 5-10 mins at least.
