ok i'm planning on getting rims for the sole purpose of road racing. i would like to get a rim size of 15x7.
i have came up with the following to choose from:
1. Rota Track R
2. Rota Slip Stream
3. Rota GT3
(only 3 models are offered in 15x7 sizes)
4. Konig Next http://www.konigwheels.com/catalog_p...ID=1&ss_id=368
they are all about the same price, but i'm leaning towards the konigs more because so many people have rotas and i like the look of them better.
does anyone know the weight of the rims? i would like a light rims, so that could sway my decision too. i'm not sure, but i think the konigs are forged (link above)??? also the link says the rims weith 28lbs??? anyone who could shed some light on this would be great.
does anyone know of any other brands i could choose from thats not really expensive?

Rep Power: 268 1)Track R 16lbs 16x7 (i couldnt find a 15x7)
2)Slips 13lbs 15x7
3)GT2 13.5lbs 15x7
zzyzx, boiler, and rob should have some more suggestions. Usually it comes down to how much money you want to spend.

Rep Power: 399 Ok... you just broke rule 1. If you want to look pretty, go play on the show carpet.
You wanna beat the snot out of it, get a wheel that works.
Cheap is fine as long as its been proven. As much as I hate rotas, they seem to take the pounding fairly well. Kosei K1s also work, Team Dynamics Pro Race 1 or 2, all of which are in the low 100s.
Step up a little more, I'm a big fan of Enkei RPF1s, which are more or less designed for racing (its an adaptation of the F1 wheel, the double lip and smaller face make the wheel stiffer). A little more, OZ. More than that.... take your pick, its ballin' land, even then, be careful. Don't race on SSR's (they egg) or Advan RGs (they crack).
In the low ball range, those I gave you are the most likely ones you'll see over and over again.

Rep Power: 399 its hit or miss. A lot of people had major problems with the Heliums cracking while racing. They allegedly fixed the issue, but the problem was found to be the aluminum they used, not the wheel design. I tend to stay away from things like that. There was a problem with one of the rotas about 2 years ago, they figured out that it was the wheel, and pulled it.

Rep Power: 280 hmm... it looks like i'm going to be going with the Kosei K1 Racing rims in silver.
oh, does anyone know how long it takes for rims to ship so as long as the place has it in stock? i found the cheapest set at tirerack.com. they're having a clearance on these rims for $109. i've brought tires from them before and they cam in 2 days. do you think the rims would come in 2 days too???
thanks for the help again.

so i just picked up my Kosei rims and tires yesterday, but i have a question...
i got 15x7 rims and the shop i picked it up from recommended a 205/50/15 sized race tire to go with the rims.
my question is: if we are able to fit 205 width tires on our stock rims that are 15x6.5, than whats the point of the wider rim? are there any benefits from running a wider rim despite having the same sized tire?

Rep Power: 356 Depends on the tire...
If your running one of the popular STS, STX STU tires in 205-50-15... MOST are Grossly under rated. Meaning they are much wider then what they say they are. For example, the old Falken RT-215 in 205-50-15, on a 7" wheel actually measured out to about 220.
Mounted on a narrower wheel however and you loose a little of that width. Its all about maximizing how much rubber you have touching the ground, and given that the performance of the car comes down to four palm sized patches of rubber... every mm counts.
