New appetizing tire size from Hankook
http://www.hankooktireusa.com/motors...erformance.asp
225/45/15 2nd quarter this year.
Of course they say something AFTER I sink a bunch of of money into 16s.
Oh well, the Honda Tech RR/AX guys succeeded with this one, now they're prodding them for 225/40/16. Go Honda Tech!
The talking over there though is because of the relatively soft sidewalls of the Z212, 7.5" wide would be the minimum people would think of going for, which is also the max STS width. an 8" as permitted in STX would be better suited to it.

I like the 245/45/16 size they have. It's a shame I can't afford 16x8.5 wheels right now.
Hankook is doing great with tire sizes. I'm definately looking into a set of 225/45/16's, they did very well in Car & Driver's tire comparison back in the fall.

Yeah, I've been wondering about this 225-15 also. Been using the 'kook 205/50/15 in front and pretty much everything GRM said in their test is true; pretty high grip but not quite as much as 615, longitudinal grip not great but not an issue for me, need to be shaved or they're really squirely, heat up really quick and need cooling in the summer (amazing grip in our cold winter series here is a big advantage). If the 225 really has 8" tread, it might be a contender.
But what about the 7.5" rim thing, that's a pain. SSRs have too much offset I think (43), have seen a mid $300 work 2-piece rim in 15x7.5 at 35 (vividracing.com) which is probably perfect. Just like your 16s, it's a pretty expensive experiment. But the good news is, if they're competitive, maybe the 89s won't be able to fit them!!!! Could this be the turning point for non-89 civics???
Here's hoping-
