I made one out of some Bar stock aluminum and a couple of U bolts.... Cost me about $5 in parts and an hour of Drilling...

I think it was about $8 for the steel bar and bolts. The most expensive part is the damn ball mount for the camera, I think that was $28.

^yea me too, Ive been thinking about pawn shops or Ebay for like an older sony or something, like under 40 bucks, but I dont know a damn thing about them.

Thing is, my brother has a really nice sony digicam, but he wont let me use it because he thinks im going to roll my car or catch on fire or something

I don't think you're going to find a digivideo cam for 40 bucks. I paid 500 for mine in January. You can pick up a new 8mm analog for about 150, used probably a lot less, but the MiniDVs (they record to tape, but at DVD quality) are still new and pretty expensive. Its probably not necessary for race footage, but I like it... because it shows up on my TV without scratchyness. Only downside... it doesn't have enough resolution for HDTV. My HD has 1080 lines of resolution, the camera only has 720. Then you get grainyness.
