The B.A.L.L.S. Challenge
The 1st annual ***** chalenge is coming up in a few months.. I was thinking of going.....
What is the ***** Challenge?
Simply put, it's a Triathlon of Motorsports. It tests a car's acceleration power, handling characteristics, and the driver's skill all in three motorsports.
The ***** challenge has anyone with a registered and insured car to compete in three events. Autocross, drag racing, and road course time trials. The times of all the events are combined... the person with the lowest combined time wins. This is to test who has the best overall performing car AND driver. Screw dyno queens. Screw show cars.
The rules are simple!
*** No borrowed cars. ***
*** Car has to be registered/insured. ***
*** Run what you brung. Turboed, Twin-turboed, Nitrous, All-Motor, V8 powered Zs, anything. ***
***** Challenge stands for:
Ballsy Automotive Lapping & Losing Sportscar Challenge
The challenge has no real "prize" or "awards" to be won. It's simply a group of fanatic car lovers who build their cars for a reason... to be RACED!
The three events are:
-- Autocross - A course set-up in a parking lot lined with cones. One vehicle navigates the course, avoiding hitting the cones. The driver is looking to navigate the course in the quickest time.
-- Drag Race - Two questions are typically always asked of car lovers:
1. what do you got done to it?
2. What does it do in a quarter mile. We couldn't possibly leave this out, now could we?
-- Road Course - High speeds, low risks, highly addictive. This event is run like a time trial. You take your street car on a road course at freeway speeds!
There is no REAL prize... except that you'll get bragging rights. Results will be calculated and posted for each event...so you know exactly how much more you need to beat the next guy.
Example of how the event will be scored/timed:
Instead of just adding all the times together, one of the engineers I know come up with this very involved formula. Here's how it breaks down:
A+D+T/3 = Score
A = AutoX
D = Drag
T = Track
add the scores together, then divide them by 3. It looks very simplistic, but, it took a team of 6 monkeys about 62 hours to come up with that and a crafty engineer supervising...

So, who wants to go?
