track day on saturday with many pictures

My weekend started on friday at America's tires. My second set of kyoken lug nut keys strip. so bought some new lug nuts

I met an AutoX buddy there. And he informed me of going to the track, Willow Spring(Streets of Willow) on Saturday. So i decided to go also. This was my 4th track day this month. Too much money but what can you do when you need seat time to get ready for HONDA CHALLENGE in one or two more years.

On my way to the track on Friday night I made my first KILL in the canyons. A BUNNY. The stupid thing wouldn't leave so I just hit the thing. I didn't want to make any rapid movements and crash so, too bad bunny.

When I got about 20 seconds from parking at Anotherslo1's place by the track, I mess up my ABS on the front right wheel by hitting a ditch going 5mph. So I don't have ABS anymore. MY FIRST TIME EVER DRIVING A CAR WITHOUT ABS. AND IT WAS A TRACK DAY.

It was a very fun day. Not a lot of congestion on the track. Lots of seat time. Learned how to brake without ABS.

I actually got timed. I got my best time of 1:42.599 in a lap. The fastest time of the day was a HONDA CHALLENGE S2000(H1 class) with Toyo RA-1's with 1:36.XX. So I asked the racers and the event owner if I could get a shorter time with my car. They all said I'm driving I'm driving pretty much at the limit of my car with street tires. Maybe another second if i had my ABS. So i was happy but wanted to break into the 30's. But nope.

The Kumho MX's give the best times right in the middle I noticed. Every session, it seemed like i got my best time on the 4th lap out of 8. I could be the fact that i'm also getting tired.

Busted bunny

I have a blast when I do it. Problem is it gets expensive... cost to enter the event, cost of gas to get there, cost of gas to run the event, cost of gas to get home, cost of the oil change I needed before hand, cost of the brake fluid change I needed before, cost of the tires I roasted, cost of the brake pads I now need to change, etc.

But its damn fun!!!

Our track here is Hallett Motor Racing Circuit, www.hallettracing.com

Our local track charges $75 for a day, which is usually 5 sessions around 15-18 minutes each. When they do test and tune days, its $100 for 7 sessions of 18-20 minutes each.
