Member from Greece needs help!
Hello. My name is Nick and i am looking to buy a used civic. I was thinking about a 2000 ek coupe. I can find it dirty cheap here(like 1500 euros) and give maybe 4000-5000 euros for a b16 or b18 or k20 engine swap+ koni sports. BUT since the car will be my daily driving car i am afraid of a few things. The car feels pretty cheap and the doors light like a coca cola can. I saw the crash test and the ek civic is pretty dangerous. Also i've seen many guys that swap engines and they blow motors after a few thousands miles. It seems that the engines that are imported from Japan have many thousands miles and they are abused.
So i changed my mind and i am looking to buy a used 2006 8th gen civic sedan with the r18 engine that produces 140ps. Here we have the jdm version. I think the curb weight of the car is 1230kg. Not as light as a 6th gen civic(i think that car weighs 1070kg) but still light enough to have good handling and be fast. The car does 0-100km in 8.5 secs. I don't have the money to put a turbo in it or a k20a. I could spend 1000 euros to put a few mods. I haven't seen anyone posting dyno results of a na tuned r18 engine. Maybe a cai+full exhaust would give me 10hp? Also the new exhaust should be lighter than the oem exhaust so that alone could make the car faster.

Welcome!
Not sure what's available in your country but if you wanted more power stock look for a Civic Si/SiR/Type R. They would be reliable and loads of fun to drive.

All modified engines run the risk of having issues, it just depends on how well balanced your build is.
Most stock honda engines can see 500,000km if maintained.
There is no cheap power, you'll have to pay for it unfortunately.
