Hello from Cincy!
Hello from Cincy!
Just joined the site after buying our second Civic. We bought a new 2000 EX 5spd back in the Spring of 2000. Was a nice car and after adding some 17" TSW wheels it was pretty sharp. Sold it in 2003 when we bought a Mustang GT.
We are now back in Civic ownership after I bought one from a Police auction. It is a 1996 EX auto with only 159k on it. Sat for 2.5 years and after some fresh gas and use of a jump box it fired right up! Has the usual floating idle after warming up...which is what brought me to this site. Some minor body damage that I will be fixing, going to wrap the hood due to the peeling clear coat, and few other odds and ends and she will be a great little run around car.
Come spring time I have been thinking of maybe doing a build with it. I know you can make these things stupid fast with motor swaps and turbos. All my experience is with Mustang V8's, so it will be something entirely new. I know the first thing will be swapping out the slush box for a 5spd. Going to avoid the fart pipe...God I hate those things...and do it right if I do it. Car will be gutted and maybe used for some Auto X. Use to Auto X in a couple 73's 240Z's my father and I had back in the '90s.
So that is me and the car in a nutshell. I added pics of the car from the auction site. Thing was pretty nasty from sitting outside so long. I am almost done with the interior clean up and will hit the exterior later this week.

Re: Hello from Cincy!
After my first two kids were born I got back into it around 2004 with my Mustang. Could not believe all the crap they changed from when we did it in the '90's. It was much more fun then, run what you built that fit in 1 of 3 alphabetical categories. Stock, Street Prepared, Race Prepared. Stock was just as it sounds, stock car with muffler and air filter changes, and tires. S/P could have some more mods and suspension changes. R/P was do whatever the hell you want to the car as long as it was safe. Now you have all these sub categories and crap. That is why we would just build it the way we want and go out for fun. Too much goes into trying to stay within a certain class just to get a $2.00 plaque at the end of the day...lol

Re: Hello from Cincy!
hahaha! i know, i just gave up on the stock class and changed one of my cars to what really pleases me in the street
read about swaps on the top of these forums (the stickies, we call them, since they are set to stay on the top for easy access):

choose the trans carefully, depending on the engine you want to throw in there too.
also, expect about 5k or more to get a K-series engine in there?
