New member with questions

hey guys n girls im new to the civic world. ive always been into muscle cars but now that i have been around and rode in a few nice hondas n acuras i decided it was time to get one. The car im getting is a plain old 94 coupe with a d16z6. some of the questions I have are whats the easiest/cheapest route to make some power n drop it and still be a great daily. Now a set of ebay coilovers come with it would anybody trust them or have them on there car, was told there called jdm lowering spring kit. Any info helps since i know nothing about imports. Thanks in advance

Re: New member with questions

In a Civic, your best options for naturally aspirated power would be an upgrade to the intake, exhaust header and exhaust system. A stage 1 cam would be an even better bet, albeit with a higher money and time commitment. You still won't be smoking any Mustangs without forking out the cash for a turbo/engine swap/NO2 though :-/
For suspension, there are plenty of options. Just do a quick search and you'll probably find someone who has tried any given setup. If you're planning on dropping the car beyond an inch or so, you'll want to look into new struts/shocks too. A word of warning: you often get what you pay for.

Re: New member with questions

Welcome! First of all, I'd definitely ditch the ebay coils for a quality set. Last thing you need is some crappy QA from some ebay-brand crap to fail catastrophically. Also, if you wanna make your old mustang see tail lights, I'd recommend a road course type of setup. Really, best bang for your buck would be beefing up your suspension.

In any case, as far as power goes, a turbo K20 setup would do you pretty well. Even a K-series frankenstein build (K24 block/K20 head) will do great. In a 7thgen, a member with that setup put down 218 at the wheels untuned, 230-something after tuning. From my understanding, that was unmodified, too.

If you want to go a more old school route, either a good B16 or B18 build (turbo or NA) will yield you good numbers.
