2000 civic engine swap problems

We bought a car that had a vtec engine put in it,, they did some wiring from the computer to the engine wiring harness,, anyway they run the engine dry of oil and dumped a rod out of it,,, they told us that a regular engine out of a 98 would work ok in the car,, we put a engine out of a 98 in the car used the intake and exhaust manifolds ect that were on the blown engine,, car started and ran great,,, then the head gasket went,,, so we put another engine in it same as the other one we put in, now it will start but will not rev up,, just want,s to bog out,,,the code raeder comes up with 1259 vtec problem,, but I,m sure it was on before,,,can,t figure it out any ideas,,,

Re: 2000 civic engine swap problems

Probably clogged injectors from sitting for a long period of time. Take the injectors from the other engine and use them to see if that`s the problem.
