goldenclutch8 meets this forum with several questions regarding her 2001 honda civic
Hi everybody, I am a 29 year old woman who drives a 5 speed (2001) civic ex. I love my car, but as of now there are issues with the trunk release...I can't close my trunk, it is stuck in the open position, and my key-less entry no longer works either, in addition to all that, my gas door that no longer works. I have already tried replacing the battery on both of my transmitters..no luck. I have already tried wd 40 on the latch of the trunk..no luck and I have just given up on the gas door. Some one please help!

Well I temporarily remedied the trunk issue. It was stuck in the open position, and I was traveling around with a bungee cord keeping my trunk closed. I would keep hearing it slam shut and open again over and over, especially on the slightest bumps. That was annoying, so I just loosened the cable by the latch on the trunk door it self. It now closes and opens with the key only. Next weekend I am going to try replacing the cable, if that is the issue. Any suggestions from anyone about the matter?

So let me get this straight, your having issues with your gas door opening, and also with your trunk door?
First off the gas door... Check these guys out, its a common problem apparently. In the mean time if you have to get the gas door open, and you get get in your trunk, pull back the trunk liner and you'll be able to see the release cable- you should be able to figure out how to open it from there.

For the trunk.. inspect the trunk latch. theres a childs safty thing there that can really trick you into thinking your trunk has some real issues. If opening from your cabin, make sure your floor latch is unlocked. Other things that might mess with your trunk opening and closing is if the rubber stoppers around the trunk were messed with, or if there is anything caught in the springs (they look like thin rods going horizontally across the top of your trunk/ under the rear deck (where the speakers are at) You might have managed to pull one out or something- which could explain why it doesnt spring back open. If this doesnt help, used your friend the search button at the top of the page, and if that doesnt yeild your results- Post a thread in the Mechnical / DIY forum.
Hope that helps.
