New and with Civic Problems

New to the site and pleased to find it for i've got some questions that need to be answered to help rebuild a civic.

i bought a 94 honda civic coupe back in May and had an accident in July.
the body is useless pretty much but the engine and everything is fine up front. Then i bought an 88 Civic hatchback, without an engine, assuming the 1.6L Vtec could fit into the 88 with only a little modification of the air flow system and the installation of a possible fuel injection instead of a carborator.
So if anyone can tell me if i'm just waisting my time and i'll have to purchase a whole new engine for the 88 and put my 94 to rest and scrap the valuables, much appreciation for any assistence... Thank You.
