Hey new person here.
Hey new person here.
Yeah that was a stupid title...Anyways.....Just call me Shanno. Had a rough start with cars...Drove a 2001 Kia Spectra with a crap-load of mods and I recently totalled it. Anyways, I finalized a deal on a 2001 Silver Honda Civic EX four door and I absolutley love it! I am no newb when it comes to civics, my fiance owns a '98 four door with tons of mods that I have helped him with. Sadly my civic is an automatic (I really prefer manual trannies but I had not much of a choice in this.) but that won't stop me from making it my own style. It came with Altezza tails that I thought I wouldn't like...But I really DO like them, lol. Anyways, I will post some pictures, and I hope to have fun here on this site!
1 Question... I have read that CAI's are not easily avaliable for my civic with an Auto Tranny...Is this true and why?

1st off, welcome to the boards.
A CAI has a support that bolts onto the transmission and the manuals are different. If you want, an SRI (Short Ram Intake) sits next to the engine. They are easy intakes to install, I have one and know. You get a tiny bit of power, but its insignificant. When the engine is warmed up the intake is sucking in alot of warm, so gains are minimal. But cost is excellent, and sounds great too. Our engines aren't going to make any good power unless you turbo it, so if you just want the look/sound get an SRI
Some general tips:
There are alot of great DIY articles on this site, in the DIY section. I myself have written 2 of them. If you like to mod your car with your own two hands, then check out the articles and get some ideas.
Common themes you will see on this site:
1. Our engines make very little power and intakes and exhausts don't help much at all.
2. Clearing your headlights is very easy. Check out the DIY in the DIY section.
3. Civic Si (2002-2005), RSX, RSX Type-S (my seats) seats all fit in our cars with little modifications.
4. Members here are great. Alot are helpful. Just don't lie or we will pick you apart!
5. Welcome again, and enjoy!
