Does anyone read these things?
I skimmed the titles because I'm too lazy and there were no new topics. But I'm going to write something anyhow, because I suppose some people are less lazy than I. Okay, most people are less lazy than I.
I just joined 7thgencivic a couple of weeks ago and have only been driving my silver 2001 EX coupe for a couple of months. I'm coming at you from central Connecticut (Northeast 7th genners represent!) and I was really excited to find an entire Honda enthusiast forum dedicated to my own special breed of Civic. In my humble opinion, one of the finest body styles Honda has cooked up to date.
I'm stone broke, but I am going to try to do the very inexpensive mods I can afford, and I hope to throw out some really detailed DIYs for everyone along the way. Everyone here has already given me a lot of good ideas and checking out so many of your pimping rides has inspired me.
My first mod, which I will attempt in the coming week or two, is a dual-color VTEC indicator light mounted within the gauge cluster, which will light amber when standing by and turn green when VTEC is engaged. Despite the protestation that VTEC isn't that great, or that a VTEC light is useless because you should feel it kick in anyway, I'm going to try this one out because it's cheap and easy. Working with my EE buddy, we have put together a transistor circuit that should pull off the dual-color action and I'm hopeful that it will turn out okay.
Even if it doesn't, I'll have created a very detailed DIY for removal and disassembly of the gauge cluster and how to access the ECU in a 2k1. Gotta start somewhere.
Cheers!

When you get bored with that, maybe you can make your own air/fuel meter!
