2003 Honda Civic Headlight Upgrade

I have a 2003 Honda Civic with stock headlights (halogen I believe).

I want to upgrade to a brighter option, as they aren't quite bright enough on our dark stormy highways. What is the best option to change to, and how simple is the swap? Have some mechanical skill, and electrical skill so I could probably get through it, but not looking to take on too big a project on my own.

Any opinions, and help would be appreciated!

I have tried the Sylvania Silverstars, Ultra Silverstars and the PIAA ones. All bright for halogen direct replacements but expensive for just a year's worth until they crap out. Keeping the lenses clean help quite a bit though.

I have ordered the Tungsram Megalight Ultra +150 H4 bulbs form PowerBlubs on the advice of Daniel Stern Lighting. I will let the forum know how my experience is with them.

Maybe just my old age eyes but all the oncoming LED headlights now bother my eyes at night - not just the plug and play LEDs in halogen housings...

Re: 2003 Honda Civic Headlight Upgrade

morimoto retrofits are really easy on the 01-03 7thgens. The kit they sell gets the horizontal alignment for you. Hardest part is opening the headlights up, and that takes all of 10 minutes at 180-210F in your oven. Scratch that, it's the 2nd hardest part. Hardest part is closing it all back up and making sure you got it closed evenly and completely. Nothing heating it up again and some clamps can't help with. It's more daunting than it is difficult.

edit: should also mention that light output is superb with that retro.

Hi Guys,

Is it legal to fit replace the halogen headlight with H4 9003 Mini Bi-LED Projector LED Lens LHD Hi/Lo Beam Bulb Headlight in BC, Canada?
