I own a 03 Honda civic ex coupe/ auto, with a 03 ex sedan manual cluster in it,i neglected to notice the first couple months, that i don't have reverse lights, and i hate myself for not understanding this before i put the cluster in, anything i can do to solve this correctly and get my reverse lights back without switching the clusters, i understand the gear sensor is the problem, how do i solve? any information would be appreciated, thanks

(I'm running with the first wire diagram I see here, so bear with me.)


I think you will have to jumper 2 wires at the gauge connector.
There are 2 possibilities I'm seeing here, since this diagram covers more than one version of the car.

B connector is the light blue one

White wire, terminal B6 (or B11)
needs jumped to
Green/Black wire terminal B18 (or B4).....another diagram shows this wire as white too, so be careful.

Another diagram shows it Should be B6 to B18. Wht to Grn/blk....Check.

This should reconnect the Trans Range Switch Reverse terminal to the A/T Reverse Relay, bypassing the gauge cluster.


Usual disclaimer:
Get yourself a wiring diagram and make sure before doing anything, and test accordingly so you don't smoke the cluster (or something else) and try to blame me later!

then where is the confusion? should be a straight b6 to b18, with the exception of confusion from b17 i dont understand how it could be anything different.

Sorry man, I'm looking at factory wiring diagrams and cannot hotlink to them, and you'd have to have a subscription to see them.

ahh, understandable, regardless i appreciate your help, just dont understand what the circuit m34 is and trying to figure it out before i splice. unless its the Trans Range Switch Reverse Terminal and the A/T Reverse Relay as you stated before. but the gear position indicator has nothing to do with it?

Ignore the M34. It is only a name given to that particular circuit.

Like "M35" is the circuit that contains the "P"ark indicator light in the cluster.
