HID quesiton with tyc projectors Please help

Ok im getting really pissed because i keep blowing my piaa head light bulbs. My question is can the tyc projectors accept HID lighting unit. And if so, DO I buy A H1 hid kit? WIll the connectors attach to the conversion cable between the stock h4 to the tyc h1? Please help.

you cant use coated bulb in projector, it gets too hot and dies. hid will look like crap in a halogen projector and throw glare everywhere.

Re: HID quesiton with tyc projectors Please help

i posted this in another thread, still applies here:

yes, it can be done. no, dont do it. lol
spend the extra and get do a retrofit. you are going to make a lot of glare over the cutoff that will blind oncoming traffic. check out the forums on hidplanet.com it is by far one of the most informative hid sites i have ever seen. there are DIYs for retrofits for just about every application on there if you search for it.

the good thing a about having the tyc's is that you wont have to do much cutting since it is already designed for a projector. do some measurements to see how big the openings are. there are a lot of people selling hid projectors of all sizes on there for dirt cheap.
as for power, your best bet is to make your own harness and run your power from the battery with a relay and your stock switch

another alternative, that is not going to be as crisp as a projector, is to get a hid shield for you stock housings. these are designed for hid bulbs and the different focal point. this will cut down on a lot of the excess glare, but probably not all of it. I actually just ordered one the other day that will allow me to use my d2s bulbs from my projectors in my stock housings. its cheap enough that if it doesnt work well, its no big loss.
