Man, don't do HID reflector on High beam...that makes no sense......save some money and time when to aim the light correctly...
Are you using regular Philips 85122 bulb? Are you able to see any signs when using ECE light?

signs does glow lit but naver got flased by oncoming traffic
i hve 3pair of ballast and reflectors cost me only $20 shipd...
high beam gone aimed as low beam....so i can use both lights at the same time....
when i open my headlights agin i am gone try to fix that flair...
that happned cuz of the color mods...(banding shield)

Now I think that DOT is better because all the signs are lit up but still not being flashed by anyone, those signs are designed to glow so that even a very small amount light will light up and shine, especially when driving in all dark county roads...:P
If you want to use a high beam as a low beam, you have to cover the top of the D2 bulb so that you won't see the arc at any angle from the front (or you are fking blinding ppl who can see the burning arc....If you don't believe me, go connect ballast and bulb to a battery and look at the arc, that's how other people will feel about it)....You also need to black out the lower portion of the reflector....I don't think that's a very good idea and not worth the effort to do it....Get a true HID auxilary driving lamp is a better idea though....
That's why I don't do color mods....Instead I am going to put a Philips 85122+ color matched bulb (matching 1000-hour color) in there so it looks more blue without losing performance....I got a pair new off ebay but it is very hard to find a new one...And guess what, eventually that color will eventually shift up too (like regular 85122 bulb)....

Whatever, I can wait.....I found that I have a light leak on my passenger side headlight leaking on the left side, the light reflects to the right side and causing the right side...Haha....Didn't find out until a month later after I retro it....
Ahh.......I am talking about light leak......In term of water leak, I had no cover putting over the openings (neither the high nor low beam), but in all cases (car wash, thunderstorm, etc.) it doesn't fog nor having any water in there, I think I am fine with that....
