ballasts and bulbs. You can use any d2s bulbs and ballasts though. Your also going to need to make a harness from the ballasts directly toward the battery so you dont fry your stock wiring.

herroherror is an unknown quantity at this point
I think you'd be better off with OE equipment since they're cheaper and last longer. You can get a decent pair of used ballasts for about $200 or less and about $50-70 for a brand new pair of 4100-4300k d2s bulbs. The harness doesnt seem to be too hard to make from what I've read. I even think someone without any electrical knowlege can do it. http://www.hidplanet.com <-great place to read up on it

there is no such thing as a plug and play retrofit. especially if you're trying to get s2000 projectors into your headlights.

that being said, be prepared to cut a lot out of the back of your projector headlights and build new mounting brackets for the s2000 projectors. they are the most retrofit-unfriendly projectors you can buy, and also very large.

what are the easiest to retrofit? or a smaller projector that is still good quality?

and also whats different about hid projectors and halogen projectors? is it just the lense? or is there more to it? could i replace the lense in my projector housing with a hid one and just modify the hole for the bulb to fit?

just swapping the lens will do nothing. you have to open the headlights and swap the actual projector unit out (this includes the reflector bowl, shield, and lens).

The harness is for the ballasts for the hids. Ballasts use significantly larger amount of amps to start during the first seven seconds then a standard halogen. After that the wattage is less then a standard halogen.

I'm not saying it would fry the stock wiring instantly but over time you will probably end up kill it. Is it really worth the risk of frying the wiring on your car for something that only costs $40 or less in parts?
