you have to tap directly into the dome light bulb wires, and i mean the ones an inch away from the bulb. i tried tapping ALL the wires running in the driver side pillar and none of them worked like the dome light did with the fadeout and stuff. trust me i've tried it when wiring up the marker lights. had to run wires up through the pillar and in the roof liner to the center bulb. you can access the wires by removing the two screws holding the assembly.

There is a low current source at the connections for the key cylinder. (used to illuminate the key cylinder on EX models) It would come on and go off with the operation of the doors, independent of dome light.

The location is Pin 5 = Wht/Blk Pin 6 = Wht/Blu on the connector for ignition switch.
I would not tie any heavy or strange (transformer/inverter) loads into either the dome circuit or the key cylinder illumination circuit. It would be easy to damage circuit.

uh you realize that anything connected to the domelight will only work when the domelight is on? i dont see the point of ocnnecting anything to it unless its marker lights of something. i have 2 other bulbs attached to the wiring so it should be fine. thats 15w its drawing and no problems.
I hard wired my radar detecter in this way I took the center metal piece out and found the hot wire where there is continuous power all the time without the dome light being on . Have not had any problems and its clean there is only about 3inchs of wire hanging down and you dont see it with the mirror.

there's always the 12v socket plug wire. just pull the piece off and look behind. there are two wires going to it, power and ground. tap those, and it will turn on everytime the car is in ACC position (or turned on too).

well it plugs to the socket right? there has to be two wires, power and ground. i'm not sure which is which but ya. cut off the socket and strip wires or tap to wires behind socket.

I would make sure first it is not somehow reducing the voltage inside of the adaptor. (it may not be the full +12 volts fed into the Ipod)
For a constant +12 source I tapped into the memory lead at the head-unit. A lot of work to get that thing in and out though.
