04-05 Projectors

hey buddies.

i want to get projectors for my HIDS, but

i saw a thread on here about a guy doing a retrofit on his lights using the 04-05's projector lens.. then i saw a thread taht said that these crappy projectors couldn't handle the heat from the HIDS.

so in the end, is it possible to or no?

Yes it's possible... get a decent set of projectors. You're also going to need new bulbs.
Get ready to do a LOT of custom work.
Check out the discussion forum on http://www.hidplanet.com/main.html You'll see a lot of retro fits on there.

btw... HID's run cooler then standard halogen bulbs.

If HIDs are more efficient and use lower wattage wouldn't they produce much less heat than halogens...?

real hid projectors should be able to handle them fine. I have fiberglass shrouds around my projectors and there fine. The HIDS probably give off less heat since they use less wattage then halogens.

Just click on the link on my sig if you wanna take a look at my retro project.

in an HID capsule, the salts burn at ~450F (i think), so it gets hot, but it doesn't spread heat the same way that the halogen bulb spreads heat.

find some tsx projectors, some sheet metal, nuts, bolts, a dremel tool, and a lot of time. you might need some bandaids, too.

they're actually all OE...in other words, the products that hidplanet sells are available in mass produced vehicles in the united states and even from the UK
