people who bought fogs off ebay! HELP ASAP!
so I bought my fogs from ebay and when I got them, on the box its said 03 civic fog. while my car is 01 LX 4-dr.
so yesterday I went to the local shop to get it done, then they said the switch will not fit.
so my question is:
1. should I buy the switch for 01 or 03 ?
2. does it matter if i buy the switch for dx/lx/ex? coz the guy at the shop told me that the switch for dx/hx are different for lx/ex
help!!
my car is at the shop right now... i can't leave it for the whole weekend..

ok, i think he is right about the switchs being different for the dx/hx and the lx/ex. since you have a 01 i would get a switch from an 01-02 cause they changed a few stupid little things with the 03 on the interior and the switch might have been one of them.

yeah i was thinking getting the 01 lx switch but the dealer told me i should get the 03 switch because i bought the 03 kit, he said the harness might be different between the 01 kit and 03 kit. and the dealer also said there're no different between dx/hx/lx/ex switch?
i might run to get the switch right now.. i just dont want to waste my money buying a switch that will not fit..

01. be careful, though. the ebay fog lights do not use a honda oem switch pin-out, or switch for that matter. your best bet is to contact the manufacturer or seller of the foglights and ask for an exchange or send out a 01 harness and switch.

did the shop mean that switch doesnt fit the harness or the switch doesnt fit the place where it goes in the center console? if it doesnt fit the center console just put it where the cruise control/power mirrors adjustment goes. fits right in there. just have to extend the wiring from the harness to make it reach, thats what i did. as stated above, honda OEM switches only fit honda OEM harnesses, so if you get a switch from honda it wont fit the ebay harness you have. trust me i know.

the shop said the switch doesn't fit the harness.. we'll i talked to him yesterday and the guy said he'll do something about it so it can fit next to the cruise control / power mirrors slot.
thanks everyone for their responses!

my input: ebay foglights are crap. Before everyone found this out, they sold on ebay for 70+ shipped.
Now if you search on ebay for foglights, they are like 20 shipped....
go see for yourself

i dont know why everyone is saying the ebay foglights are crap. i bought my fogs off of ebay and theyre great. i think they are actually better than OEM because OEM has a shield on the inside that blocks a lot of light.
yeah they are cheap because cheap research and devlopment. THe wires have to be custom cause they arent made for us spec and relays harness is located at the wrong places.. thats why they are cheap.
sometimes they come ok because myfriend got a good working set, then when I ordered it, it was complete junk...

Don't get the eBay set from sprinter91801
civicPesek - It sounds like you got the same set I did. I had to take my dreml to the connector that is supposed to plug into the switch to get it to fit. I connected it all up to run from a motorcycle battery in the house to make sure they worked. When I hooked it all up a connector on the switch promptly smoked. I ran the harness out with a multimeter and the center connector on the 5 pin switch was dead shorted through the harness. The harness had it hot and in the switch it was ground. It was supposed to light the switch with the ign on. The other light in the switch just comes on when the switch is on. Clipped off the center connector in the switch and wired around it. Now both switch lights come on when the switch is on. The switch lights are white so I am going to put some of the yellow lamin-x I have left over from the lens in the switch to make it light up yellow down by the cruise switch. I am going to power the relay so the fogs come on anytime I turn on the switch.
One of the differences between OEM switches if the color of the light. The OEM switches are supposed to light up the same color as the dash lights.
