looking for underglow lighting
well i decided I want a RED underglow kit for my car to match my new dash lights.
Now the problem is neons are totally out. They break way too easily. LED kits are just dim still and doesn't give a glow effect. I've seen EL pics but never found a place that sells this. Has anyone seen something like this?

thats why there was a move from neons to LED's. cause LED's are not in a tube, but a flat bar that hold all the little lights. i had a blacklight tube and it broke cause i dropped a penny on it from a foot high on accident. neons are the same but in different colors.

Yup same here. had a very expensive streetglow gold series in blue. It was so bright I could see the light reflecting off the ground and lighting up the mirrors. Looked amazing but all the tubes shattered from the inside from bumps.
Leds are stupid because they just make dots and no glow, plus they're not nearly as bright.
EL lighting is weatherproof and very hard to break because its like a strip of tape basically.
Check out the pic of EL. This technology is amazing and I think invented by a NASA scientist. Same as the indiglo gauges some of you have. I'm gonna call and see what kind of pricing this is. If not, I might just get a cheap led kit for fun.
This is a special new brand called LightTape that is supposed to be better that standard EL lamps.

i emailed the EL company and they sent me back specs. it would be a couple of hundred bucks to buy the setup but i think it would have been worth it. i will go to this site when im ready to do it.
i have street glow gold series , and as long as the lexan tubing on the out side doesnt break , your lifetime warranty will replace the neons for free. i like them personally , cause they are bright as hell , and i have seen a bunch of LEDs and they are dull , but also , the street glow optx and blue line series arent as bright because they are on like 7000 and 7500 volts and arent the quallity as the gold series , gold series are 9500 volts.

I personally like the neons, gold series too. I know that my front broke, but mainly because I was driving stupid with it. I just re-ordered the front and I plan to drive much smarter with it... I see no reason why these shouldn't last quite a long while.

haha oh boy I forgot to update you guys. The light tape is GARBAGE!! It is dimmer than a few leds put together and very nasty. I got the red one and it looks pink and very very dim at night. And then the packaging started to rip, I got pissed and threw in trash. Its junk.
