moisture in passenger light..please help!
moisture in passenger light..please help!
Hey everyone,
Hoping you pros can help me out with an issue I'm having.
I just nonticed the other day after washing my car that moisture has started to appear in my passenger front headlight. A day later now...and a little is still there. I have had the car for two years and it has never been an issue. Nothing has changed except I got tints the other day....(shouldn't have anything to do with it)
Anyways, does anyone know how I can fix this or when I take it into the dealer for service, is it something that can be easily fixed?
Any input would be greatly appreciated.....I love my civic and can not rest until I know the headlight is ok!
Thanks, Jeremy

Thanks for the quick reply! I will start by doing that....but the moisture will probably eventually return right? I am wondering if I need a new headlight assembly? Dam, that sucks if I do.....any idea what they go for?
Thanks again....Jeremy

New headlight is around $250 for ONE. Yours is prolly fine. The only way it would fog is if something isn't sealed right. Either around the two halves or a bulb socket. Those aren't air tight. I live in a humid place and mine fog all the time, as does everyone elses.

I would first do as gearbox says and try the blowdryer...if the results do not suite you then take them apart clean and re-seal them with either permatex or silicone!!
Thanks again guys! I just did the blowdyer trick. Cleared it up after about 15 seconds. I will give that a shot and see what it does. It has been VERY humid this summer so thats probably all it is.
Really appreciate you help guys!

i, when the problem occurs, tunr my wheel, put a fan on it, then while asleep at night, let it air out with a room temperature air so it dont damage anypart of the light, and it should be dry the next day and if it's hot outside, take off a the side bulbs, and let it evaporte during the day too! to dry out the housing more.
well, the dam moisture is back....and it only happens in the one!! I have it being serviced tomorrow.....is this somthing I should get the dealer to look at??
Thanks again guys,
Jer
ps, I already did the blowdryer thing..worked great but I dont want to have to keep doing that everytime.

Thats a good question, I looked closely, and it is a stock headlight, although not OEM. looks the same but different manufacturer. (not the 1st owner). I personally have never opened it up..heck I don't even no how to remove the unit. This sucks, cause I don't want to have to dry it out all the time, but also don't want to spend 250 on a new one.
Any advice or alternatives that I have? Thanks,
Jer.

check the date samuri is probably not even on the forums anymore and try the search function first then make a new thread if you can't find anything. I searched for you and found this real quick but next time try using the search function.
Just pry the tabs off and take a heat gun to the black tar stuff to make the glue easier to pull apart and pull off the lens.
this guy is telling how to black out lights but he explains how to take the lens off.
