best place to buy HID ???
In the market for hid's, just wondering if anyone has any recommendations on where to buy from, at a reasonable price. Which kit is the best ? Will be using stock headlights. Been thinking of x-tec, searched but need more input before making a decision.

I would look for a Catz kit from Japan. They are illegal to sell, so you'll have to find a used one. I love mine. I've seen the x-tec and prolumen kits and there is just too much glare with stock housings.

what prevents the catz hid from having the glare? do they give you a light shield of something or have built-in shields like d2r?
otherwise i don't see how they have less glare...

did you see the pic? they look just like halogen and I never get flashed. Must be how they were designed as far as the ballast and shields. They are specific for halogen housings.
for some reason I don't feel comfortable buying used parts for my car, I dunno why . . . I definately like the look of those catz though. do you have a shot from the drivers view of the road ?

A quality kit will last the life of your car. The bulbs have at least 5-7 years of life, and even after that they never burn out. They just shift to the blue end of the spectrum and light output goes down. Eventually you'll need new bulbs. Thats the only thing I'm afraid of eventually is finding new ones.
pic is with oem fogs and nokya yellow bulbs.

Yup its plug and play. All connectors and some power and ground wires to attach. I paid $385 used but don't know how old it is. I've had it at least a year. Its the hi/low kit so I can turn the hi beam switch and the bulb pops back in the housing to shine higher. Retail I think is over $600 when they used to sell. Its OEM equipment in Japan, all d.o.t. legal.
