Which halogen bulbs to get?
Ok. Now, if you got $40 with some +/- adjustment on your hand, what kind of bulb will you get? Don't forget to state you reason and maybe some pictures if you got one.....
Here's the options I got in my mind..
Bulb:
1. OEM of your car..
2. Sylvania OEM in wal-mart..
3. Sylvania Silverstar / CoolBlue
4. NOKYA --> hyperwhite, blue, purple, etc
5. MTEC --> super/cosmos blue/yellow
6. POLARG...
7. some xyz eBay JDM brand....
8. ..... + where to get it...
Reason:
1. Looks cool because of the ____-ish color
2. I believe it's brighter than stock and got more distance
3. w0w, not that [color]-ish but they're wider and longer...
4. They're not that expensive....and last quite long...
5. ....
and maybe also some cons like:
1. Dead in ____ months/year/day/hour
2. output sucked! looks good....but terrible output
3. Dude, just keep stock if you can't afford HID...
4. OMG, i got caught with that bulb!
5. ...
repost? naw....this time you can't get PIAA cos' it's usually > $40...don't even think about HID....LOL
thanx!

hmm....r u talking about normal one or silverstar?
i've to admit that output wise...they're definitely brighter, wider and longer...
however, bad side is..........probably can get max of 1 year with it...
now, mtec is definitely on my list......but some people also talking about nokya beinmg better with the same price..
any more opinion? thanx!

Which ones will give you that bright blue look? Thats what i want, Something clean and clear which will allow me to see better at night. Vs the damb yellow crap everyone has. Funtionality over looks is what im going for.
indeed....if you wanna play blue....the functionality of the light will be even lower due to the blue tint layer..........
that's why, IMO, silverstar will give you the brightest output......1. because they got a good layer of blue w/o blocking the light, and 2. it has a powerful layer of filament which glows a brighter light

Me personally I went with silverStar's and I love them they're a whole lot brighter than stock of coarse but they do have the a small blue tint with the low beams and a good bit of blue with the high beams and I've had them 1yr and they're still going strong there the Silverstar ST's thats your best bet because with to much ble it just looks like a shity want 2 be HID.
lol...
well, actually....i've seen some blue/white bulbs with the same output as ST....
that's what really im lookin right now..
i love ST...don't get me wrong....but the color is just not that interesting....lol

i have st's dont really like them. I find it harder to see with them. I can see with blue easyier. i dont know why, just can. maybe i got weird eyes? Cat eyes ;-)
I got MTEC hyper whites 2x H4s. They work good. Ive only had them for a few months now and have had no problems. I did have the MTEC hyper whites 4x which is above the wire rating for our cars and those things were bright as hell. I was just worried about the wires getting burned, but I didnt have problems with them until the passenger side blew out on me. The 4x lasted about a year I believe.
The 2x ones are definitely not as bright as the 4x ones, but the 2x ones are nice, wide, and have a nice bluish tint. Here in Michigan the cops dont really care how blue ur lights are. Theyre not as strict here as they are in other places.
I think the rating difference is like is 55/60W for 2x and those 4x were 110/120W.
I have some pics of the 2x, but ill post them later coz Im at work and those pics are at home. Ill do it somewhere around lunch time
Hope this helps. I think soon, ill be getting those MTEC Cosmos Blue which are about 45 dollars, but ill wait until something goes wrong with my hyper whites

don't get any ricer crap bulbs, they will never be as bright as stock. Go get some osram silverstar or cool blue. The cool blue is supposed to be bright white and have a tiny blue tint. www.ambulbs.com Don't settle for crap bulbs made in usa like sylvania. osram is the european brand and much better than anything we have here.

i had cool blue for a while, not a bad upgrade. i personally think that they are better than silverstar.
i am using mtec right now and they are whiter than sylvania's thought light output is relatively the same.

are u referring to sylvania USA products?
when u said CB is better than ST, are u talking about it's color or it's output?
which mtec are u using? i assume ur talking about mtec super white vs. sylvania (US) coolblue?
thanx!

NOKYA- Hyper yellow, I had them for a year now and still running pretty good. At night their are pretty bright and you can see pretty far. All the road signs and markers all light up yellow. Yellow blubs tends to be better in rainy conditions and pitch dark.
was really really interested in buying nokya yellow......however, im afraid they might catch local cops eyes on their cruisers in my area better rather than white/blue lights..........
I'm unusually bored.

Osram and sylvania are tha same company. I work for the company... the silverstars are made in germany and way higher quality than cool blue. The cool blues are not blue at all, I have them in my minivan and are much dimmer than silverstars I have in the civic. I have tried generic ricer blue lights from ebay and they are dimmer, but bluer. I also got some other bulbs I cant remember from circuit city that just plain suck.
^thanx again for the reply..
but....even though they're the same, www.ambulbs.com offers Osram products which are european version.........
check it out.....they're different....ST over there doesn't have blue tint..
i believe their their CB is similar to Osram USA's ST...

i would stay stock. i'm pretty sure all this information was already posted, but blue bulbs = lesser visibility and more eye strain, yellow bulbs = better visibility (in FOGGY conditions), but it's yellow....
and white would be best right? (4000k mark). it seems like 3200k OEM bulbs were choose for all weather, but in california, its usually shine and i would love white all season.
heres my personal exp with piaa xtreme white h4 bulbs 4125k low/3800k highs
bought brand new on ebay for 60 bucks
one bulb blew out after 1 year
other bulb is still running strong (18 months)
light output was better than OEM for dry nights, but not in rain
as for replacing the blown piaa, im replacing with sylanvia silverstar (4000k) today.
