Needles not glowing like they should

Needles not glowing like they should
Hey, looking for some help here, maybe someone has some input.
Two days ago my gauge overlays (indiglos if thats what you wanna call them) stopped working. I took everything apart and the fuse holder had somehow broken and the fuse was missing...so I eliminated the fuse and just connected the wires (positive). My problem now is that my gas gauge needle and half of my speedo needle don't light up.
I'm not sure how the cluster lighting works or why this would be happening, so please, anyone with any info, HELP!!!!
