Question I need help installing the foglights switch harness...

Hey guys,
I'm connecting the foglight harnesses as we speak, but the (subharness) is not long enough and I need to extend it to reach the steering column. I bought some regular 16 gauge cable from PepBoys, but I'm not sure if this would be the right cable to extend the subharness. The cable form the subharness says AVS-1.25 as shown on the pic. and according to a RadioShack guy, that's just the cables's manufacturer; so would 16 gauge cable work??

Subharness cable.

22 gauge cable will work fine, as that is what i used. 16 gauge will be more than enough.
