I've got a can of gloss black high temp caliper paint I want to use on my blackout headlights, any reasons I shouldn't do this... ie gloss?

either gloss and some spray paints would eat plastic, i doubt it would do that with this app, but i think the gloss wouldn't so good

it should be fine as long as you use a plastic primer for it. the caliper paint is intended for metal so if you dont prime it, then it wont last.

Most high-temp paints are either enamel or ceramic paint. I'm thinking that this might not be good for this application since it might block too much light. If this is the case the housings might overheat. Sure, the paint won't be damaged, but you might melt something in there.
I think using the spray tint is your best bet, but if anyone can tell me otherwise, then that's great.

i dont think he means black out the lens. i think he means black out the chrome inside. I actually used some plastic primer and had the nighthawk black paint put in a spray can and did mine the exact same color as the car. it looks pretty good with that blue metal flake.

you're probably right. That should be fine then.

I guess you would need something that's somewhat heat-resistant, like bbq paint.
